A prestigious private estate in San Francisco, California, is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Night Housekeeper to maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation, and organization throughout the residence.

This is a full-time overnight position designed for a hospitality professional who understands the standards expected in five-star hotels and luxury private properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out detailed cleaning, specialist surface care, laundry, wardrobe maintenance, and the preparation of living spaces while the household is asleep.

The role operates as part of a two-person night housekeeping team. The appointed Housekeeper will collaborate directly with an existing colleague three nights per week to undertake intensive cleaning projects and coordinate comprehensive property resets. On the remaining two nights, the individual will manage housekeeping duties independently.

The family is looking for someone who combines technical housekeeping expertise with discretion, initiative, and the ability to work quietly without disturbing the household. An exceptional eye for detail and the ability to maintain impeccable standards without constant supervision are essential.

Responsibilities

Overnight housekeeping and specialist cleaning

Oversee the detailed cleaning and maintenance of the estate’s principal living areas, bedrooms, hallways, dining spaces, and other designated areas.
Carry out intensive cleaning and polishing tasks during overnight hours, ensuring all work is completed quietly and efficiently.
Apply appropriate cleaning techniques and specialist products to delicate materials, including marble, hardwood, bronze, glass, mirrors, and bespoke woodwork.
Maintain furniture, decorative objects, fixtures, and finishes in pristine condition, following specific care instructions.
Ensure that entrances, reception areas, formal rooms, and frequently used spaces are perfectly presented before the household begins its day.
Undertake detailed laundry duties, including washing, drying, steaming, ironing, folding, and organizing garments and household linens.
Maintain wardrobes and linen storage areas, ensuring clothing and textiles are properly arranged and readily accessible.

Evening service and morning preparation

Provide evening turndown assistance or early-morning preparation according to the household’s established routines and preferences.
Restore kitchens and dining areas following evening use, including clearing tableware, cleaning surfaces, sanitizing food preparation areas, and organizing equipment.
Prepare formal dining rooms and communal spaces for the following day.
Maintain guest bedrooms, bathrooms, and secondary living areas to the standards expected in luxury hospitality establishments.
Ensure guest accommodation is consistently ready for use, with all amenities, linens, and essentials properly arranged.

Independent management and teamwork

Conduct regular inspections throughout the property to identify areas requiring additional attention or corrective cleaning.
Take ownership of nightly responsibilities, prioritizing tasks independently and maintaining consistent standards without relying on detailed instructions.
Work alongside the existing Night Housekeeper three nights per week to coordinate major cleaning assignments and comprehensive housekeeping projects.
Manage assigned overnight shifts independently, ensuring all essential duties are completed before the morning handover.
Monitor housekeeping inventory and replenish cleaning products, guest amenities, toiletries, and linen supplies.
Identify maintenance issues, damaged items, or shortages and report them to the appropriate household representative.
Maintain effective communication with the housekeeping team to ensure continuity between shifts.

Job Requirements

Minimum of three years’ professional housekeeping experience within a five-star hotel, luxury resort, or comparable high-end hospitality establishment.
Previous experience in night housekeeping, turndown service, or overnight cleaning operations is highly desirable.
Advanced knowledge of professional cleaning procedures and the maintenance of premium surfaces, furnishings, and delicate materials.
Strong expertise in laundry operations, garment care, ironing, steaming, and linen management.
Exceptional attention to detail, with an excellent understanding of presentation, symmetry, organization, and cleanliness.
Ability to perform housekeeping duties quietly and discreetly while respecting the privacy and sleeping hours of the household.
Highly proactive approach, with the ability to identify requirements, anticipate priorities, and complete tasks without continuous supervision.
Comfortable working both collaboratively within a small housekeeping team and independently during overnight shifts.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities within a defined timeframe.
Professional attitude, reliability, discretion, and respect for confidentiality.
Fully available for overnight working hours, including weekends and scheduled public holidays.

Working Conditions

Full-time Night Housekeeper position based in a private luxury estate in San Francisco, Bay Area, California.
Overnight working schedule, generally either 10:00 PM–6:00 AM or 11:00 PM–7:00 AM.
Five working nights per week, including three nights alongside the existing Night Housekeeper and two independently managed shifts.
Weekend availability required, including Saturday and Sunday shifts as scheduled.
Start date flexible.
