A private household in Divonne-les-Bains (01) is seeking an experienced and caring Live-In Housekeeper / Carer to join the household on a permanent basis.

The role combines comprehensive household support with personal assistance and companionship for an elderly gentleman, who is the employer’s father. The successful candidate will primarily support him during the periods when the family’s main Live-in Carer is away, approximately one week each month.

The ideal candidate will be a compassionate and dependable household professional who is equally comfortable managing domestic responsibilities and providing respectful, attentive care. Discretion, patience, and a strong sense of responsibility are essential.

This is a full-time permanent position (CDI) offering independent staff accommodation.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping & Home Management

Maintain the residence to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.
Carry out regular cleaning, dusting, polishing, and floor and window care.
Manage household laundry, including washing, ironing, folding, and putting items away.
Monitor household supplies and maintain appropriate stock levels.
Purchase groceries and other household essentials.
Complete local errands, including dry cleaning, post, pharmacy visits, and other tasks.
Receive and organise parcels and deliveries.
Welcome and liaise with tradespeople, contractors, and other service providers.
Prepare fresh, balanced, and varied meals.
Walk and care for the family’s small dog.
Provide regular updates to the employer regarding household matters and the gentleman’s wellbeing.

Elderly Care & Companionship

During the absence of the primary Live-in Carer, the successful candidate will provide attentive day-to-day support to the elderly gentleman, including:

Assisting with morning routines and getting up.
Helping with dressing and personal hygiene.
Supporting bathing or washing as required.
Preparing and serving meals.
Providing friendly companionship and reassurance.
Accompanying him on walks, outings, appointments, or other activities.
Ensuring his comfort, safety, and wellbeing throughout the day.
Reporting any relevant changes or concerns to the employer.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide care with patience, dignity, and respect while encouraging the gentleman’s independence wherever possible.

Job Requirements

The ideal applicant will have a proven background in private household work and/or elderly care, with the maturity and flexibility required to combine both areas of responsibility.

Essential & Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a comparable position.
Previous experience as a Housekeeper, Live-in Carer, Care Assistant, or similar professional.
Formal training in elderly care or care assistance is advantageous.
Kind, patient, compassionate, and naturally caring personality.
Highly responsible and attentive to detail.
Organised, autonomous, and capable of managing tasks without constant supervision.
Versatile and willing to assist across both household and care duties.
Comfortable working around pets and happy to walk a small dog.
Flexible and able to adapt to the family’s changing requirements.
Discreet and respectful of confidentiality and the family’s private life.
Conversational spoken English.
Driving licence is advantageous.

Contract: Permanent – CDI
Hours: Full-time, 39 hours per week
Start Date: As soon as possible
Accommodation: Independent, fully equipped private room provided
Care Requirement: Approximately one week per month while the primary Live-in Carer is absent

Salary

€2,560 – €2,800 gross per month, depending on experience and suitability.
