An established family of five is looking for an experienced Housekeeper / Governess to join their household on a long-term, full-time, live-out basis.

The position is based in a spacious 280 m² apartment in Paris 17th arrondissement, arranged over one level with five bedrooms, three full bathrooms and two additional guest bathrooms. The household includes three young children and a senior Golden Retriever.

This is a housekeeping-focused position. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the home is exceptionally clean, organised and well maintained, while also assisting with family meals, household errands and the care of the family dog. No childcare or nanny duties are required.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping & Home Management

Maintain the apartment to a consistently high standard of cleanliness and presentation
Carry out daily cleaning as well as regular deep-cleaning of the entire residence
Thoroughly clean kitchens, bathrooms and other high-use areas
Clean kitchen appliances, cupboards, drawers, cabinets and storage spaces
Vacuum, mop and dust all floors and surfaces
Clean windows and other household fixtures as required
Maintain bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas to a high standard

Laundry & Wardrobe Care

Manage the household laundry from start to finish
Wash, dry, fold and iron clothing and household linens
Change and maintain bed linens and towels
Ensure laundry and linen areas remain organised and efficiently managed

Household Organisation

Keep storage areas, cupboards and household supplies organised
Monitor stocks of cleaning products, groceries and other household essentials
Replenish supplies and ensure the household runs smoothly on a daily basis
Maintain an orderly and well-presented home at all times

Cooking & Errands

Prepare simple, fresh and family-friendly meals
Shop for groceries and household supplies
Handle dry cleaning, pharmacy collections, parcels and other local errands
Assist with occasional household or personal errands as required

Dog Care

Walk and feed the family’s senior Golden Retriever
Provide general day-to-day care and attention
Arrange or accompany the dog to occasional grooming appointments

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

At least 5 years of professional private-household experience, with 7+ years preferred
Excellent and verifiable references from previous employers
Experience working in busy private households, ideally with families and children
A strong eye for detail and exceptionally high standards of cleanliness
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
A proactive, reliable and independent approach to work
Discretion and respect for household privacy
Punctuality, consistency and a strong sense of responsibility
Basic English communication skills

The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently and taking full ownership of the housekeeping function within a busy family home.

Working Conditions

Position: Housekeeper / Governess
Location: Paris 17th arrondissement
Accommodation: Live-out
Schedule: Full-time, minimum 40 hours per week
Working pattern: 5 days per week, with a consistent weekly schedule
Additional hours may occasionally be required during holidays, family visits or special events
Driving: Not required
Candidates should ideally live within approximately 25 minutes of the residence by public or private transport

Salary

€40,000 gross per year
