Log inAn esteemed family residing in the prestigious Kalorama district of Washington DC is seeking an accomplished and refined Butler (M/F) to take full charge of their household operations. This live-out position is best suited to an experienced professional with a demonstrated history of delivering flawless service and coordinating staff within sophisticated private households.
The Butler will act as the cornerstone of the residence, ensuring that service, staff, and property management consistently meet the family’s exacting standards. The role demands exceptional organizational skills, discretion, and the ability to adapt seamlessly to a dynamic and fast-paced household environment.
Household Operations & Service
Direct daily operations, guaranteeing that the residence is always prepared for family use and guest visits.
Deliver formal and informal table service, including table settings, fine dining etiquette, and beverage service.
Oversee inventories, supplies, and procurement of household goods.
Manage accounts, petty cash, and expense tracking with accuracy.
Coordinate principal’s travel logistics, including packing, itineraries, and communication with staff at secondary residences.
Staff Supervision & Coordination
Lead, schedule, and support domestic staff including housekeepers, private chefs, chauffeurs, and security teams.
Act as the main liaison with external service providers, vendors, and contractors.
Oversee property maintenance, inspections, and service appointments.
Property & Event Management
Maintain both the interior and exterior of the residence at immaculate standards.
Organize and execute private dinners, receptions, and occasional formal events.
Manage luxury household assets, including bar service and wine cellar curation.
Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Butler or in a comparable role within UHNW households, luxury hotels, or high-level hospitality.
Formal butler or private service training strongly preferred (certified butler school or equivalent).
Strong leadership skills with proven staff management experience.
Exceptional discretion, professionalism, and polished presentation.
Skilled in guest relations, wardrobe management, luxury table service, and event support.
Fluent communication and interpersonal skills.
US-based applicants only; legal authorization to work in the United States required.
Valid driver’s license; flexible to travel when needed.
