A prestigious private family in Mayfair, London, is seeking an accomplished and highly meticulous Sole Housekeeper to take full responsibility for the care and presentation of their beautiful four-storey residence.

This is a long-term opportunity for an experienced private household professional who takes real pride in achieving impeccable standards and is confident managing a home independently.

The family has a warm, informal, and respectful household with a toddler. While there are no childcare responsibilities, the successful candidate should be comfortable working around a young child and using safe, environmentally conscious cleaning products.

The position is available on either a live-in or live-out basis. The live-in package includes a private, self-contained staff apartment with its own entrance.

Responsibilities

Luxury Housekeeping

Take full responsibility for the cleanliness, organisation, and presentation of the entire residence.
Complete detailed daily housekeeping across all four floors.
Carry out periodic deep cleaning, including less accessible areas such as behind taps, beneath furniture, inside refrigerators, and other overlooked spaces.
Maintain exceptional standards throughout the property with minimal supervision.
Care for specialist surfaces and luxury finishes, including extensive marble, natural stone, leather, and other delicate materials.
Select and use appropriate eco-friendly and child-safe cleaning products.
Keep housekeeping tools and equipment clean, organised, and properly maintained.

Laundry & Garment Care

Manage the complete household laundry and ironing service to an exceptionally high standard.
Correctly care for delicate and luxury fabrics, including silk, cashmere, fine wool, sportswear, and swimwear.
Follow individual garment care instructions and ensure clothing is treated according to its fabric and construction.
Maintain wardrobes, linen cupboards, and household storage areas in an orderly and accessible condition.
Ensure household linens are beautifully presented and appropriately stored.

Household Support

Receive deliveries and ensure items are checked, unpacked, and stored correctly.
Monitor cleaning products and household supplies.
Maintain accurate awareness of stock levels and replenish products when necessary.
Assist with clearing the dining area and kitchen after family meals.
Load and unload the dishwasher as required.
Keep all housekeeping areas and equipment in excellent condition.
Anticipate household needs and address tasks proactively without requiring direction.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced private housekeeper with a strong understanding of luxury residential service and specialist household care.

Essential Requirements

Previous experience working in a high-end private household.
Excellent knowledge of luxury housekeeping methods and standards.
Demonstrable experience caring for marble, natural stone, leather, and other specialist surfaces.
Extensive experience with luxury laundry, ironing, and delicate garment care.
Confident handling silk, cashmere, fine wool, sportswear, swimwear, and other specialist fabrics.
Knowledge of environmentally friendly and non-toxic cleaning products.
Exceptional attention to detail and a genuine commitment to achieving immaculate results.
Highly organised, methodical, and proactive.
Comfortable working independently as the sole Housekeeper.
Physically fit and able to work comfortably across a four-storey property with multiple staircases.
Discreet, trustworthy, professional, and respectful of family privacy.
Comfortable working within a relaxed family environment with a toddler.
Non-smoker.
Excellent checkable references from previous private household employers.

Please note: This is a housekeeping position and does not include childcare duties.

Working Conditions

Position: Sole Housekeeper
Location: Mayfair, London
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Working Days: Monday to Friday
Hours: 40 hours per week
Typical Schedule: Approximately 8:00/9:00 am to 6:00/6:30 pm, with a 1–2 hour daily break
Start Date: Flexible; the family is willing to wait for the right candidate
Living Arrangement: Live-in or live-out

Live-In Accommodation

For candidates choosing the live-in option, the family provides a private, self-contained staff apartment with its own entrance, comprising:

Double bedroom

Kitchen

Salary

£50,000 – £60,000 gross per annum, depending on experience and suitability.
