Log inA private household in the Aix-en-Provence is seeking a versatile, kind, and dependable individual (or couple) to join them on a full-time basis. The position involves providing companionship, household assistance, and healthy home cooking for a warm and welcoming couple who value discretion, empathy, and a calm household environment.
This role offers the chance to live and work in one of the most beautiful regions of southern France, surrounded by nature, vineyards, and Provençal charm.
Companionship & Daily Support: Offer companionship to the lady of the house as she continues her recovery following several strokes. Assist with her daily routine — light exercise, walks, hair care, changing shoes, and accompanying her on outings.
Well-being & Stimulation: Encourage her independence through conversation, reading, games, and shared activities such as walks or light leisure pursuits.
Household Assistance: Provide practical support to the gentleman of the house by handling errands, grocery shopping, laundry, and keeping the home organised.
Cooking: Prepare fresh, nutritious, and low-salt meals for lunch and dinner, ensuring variety and balance. Be comfortable cooking for guests on occasion. Maintain a clean and well-ordered kitchen.
Driving: Drive the couple safely to medical appointments, social visits, and local errands (e.g., pharmacy, market, post office).
Household Management: Contribute to the smooth running of the household and help maintain a peaceful, structured environment.
Excellent communication and conversational skills; curious, engaging, and well-read.
Genuine interest in companionship, reading, current affairs, and leisure activities such as cards or backgammon.
Previous experience in a private household or similar companion role.
Strong cooking ability with a focus on healthy, flavourful meals.
Full, clean driving licence and confidence driving in France.
Discreet, polite, and professional, with empathy and patience.
Ideally fluent in English; conversational French would be an advantage.
Open to living on-site and contributing positively to the home’s daily rhythm.
