Job Description

A private owner is seeking an experienced Caretaker / General Handyman to oversee the day-to-day upkeep, security, and smooth operation of a secondary residence located in Le Muy, in the Var (South of France).

This is a full-time, permanent position, available immediately, offering long-term stability within a well-structured private estate. The role is ideal for a versatile and autonomous professional who enjoys working outdoors, maintaining property standards, and supporting a small on-site management team.

Independent staff accommodation is provided on site.

Responsibilities

Property Maintenance & Technical Support

Carry out general maintenance tasks, small repairs, and basic DIY work
Ensure regular maintenance of the swimming pool
Maintain terraces, outdoor areas, and garden furniture
Monitor the condition and proper functioning of all equipment
Identify technical issues and report malfunctions promptly to the employer

Site Security & Monitoring

Oversee site surveillance and general security of the property
Monitor and ensure correct operation of the remote surveillance system (27 cameras)
Conduct regular checks of perimeter fencing and access points

Operational & Logistical Support

Support the on-site property management (Régie) team as required
Work collaboratively with other staff and service providers
Receive parcels, deliveries, and supplies
Welcome and coordinate external contractors, tradespeople, and service providers
Provide regular reporting and updates to the employer
Act as a driver upon request

Pet Care

Take daily responsibility for the household’s three dogs, including feeding and coordination of veterinary appointments

Job Requirements

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar caretaker, handyman, or estate support role
Versatile, reliable, and able to work independently
Proactive and dynamic, with a practical mindset
Enjoys working in a natural, outdoor environment
Solid DIY skills; gardening knowledge is a strong advantage
Good interpersonal skills and team spirit
Flexible and available as required by the estate’s needs
Absolute discretion and respect for confidentiality
Fluent French required; English an advantage
Valid driving licence mandatory

Working Conditions

Contract: Full-time permanent contract
Schedule: 6 days per week (hours to be defined)
Start date: As soon as possible
