Job Description

A distinguished household in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey is looking for a talented and health-focused Live-Out Private Chef who specializes in elevated vegetarian cuisine. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in fine-dining or Michelin-level kitchens, a passion for clean, organic cooking, and the ability to craft refined, globally inspired meals with outstanding consistency and creativity.

The chef will prepare daily meals for the principals, maintain impeccable kitchen standards, and support a household that prioritizes wellness, quality ingredients, and exceptional culinary technique.

Responsibilities

Menu Development: Design varied weekly menus centered on high-end vegetarian cuisine, incorporating global influences such as Indian, Mediterranean, Italian, Mexican, and Asian flavors.
Daily Cooking: Prepare lunch and dinner each day for the principals and occasional guests (approximately four portions per meal).
Ingredient Quality: Cook exclusively with USDA-certified organic products. No meat, processed items, or low-quality additives may be brought onto the property—including for staff meals.
Kitchen Management: Utilize the home’s existing equipment (additional tools will be supplied when needed). Ensure the kitchen remains spotless, sanitary, and well-organized at all times.
Meal Prep & Stocking: Prepare a selection of ready-to-eat and reheatable dishes for the refrigerator. Handle prep work including bread baking, spice grinding, and the production of sauces, stocks, and bases.
Team Communication: Coordinate with the household staff to align meal times, dietary preferences, and scheduling needs.
Shopping Support: While the household manages grocery purchasing, the chef will provide detailed shopping lists and menu-related guidance.

Job Requirements

A minimum of 5+ years of professional culinary experience, including work in Michelin-starred or top-tier fine-dining environments.
Prior experience as a Private or Personal Chef within a refined household is essential.
Deep knowledge of vegetarian cuisine and health-forward cooking techniques.
Strong organizational abilities with exceptional attention to detail in flavor, presentation, and kitchen standards.
Excellent professional references.
Must successfully pass a background check and health screening (including a blood test confirming hepatitis A vaccination) and abide by the household’s wellness policy.

Working Conditions

Job Title: Private Chef (Vegetarian) – Live-Out
Location: Englewood Cliffs, NJ
Schedule: Full-time — 5 days per week, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Salary

$50–$70 per hour, commensurate with experience and culinary background.
