Job Description

Our client is seeking a reliable and multi-skilled Property Caretaker to oversee the upkeep of a second residence located in Bidart (Pyrénées-Atlantiques – 64).

The position involves ensuring the general maintenance of the home, both inside and outside, and supporting the owner during their stays.

This is a part-time freelance role (micro-enterprise status) with on-site accommodation provided.
Start date: February 2026.

Responsibilities

Domestic Care & Interior Upkeep

Perform routine cleaning, dusting, sweeping and overall housekeeping.
Conduct deep cleaning prior to the owner’s arrival.
Manage laundry (washing, ironing, storage).
Monitor household stocks and replenish supplies when needed.

Outdoor & Facility Management

Prepare and maintain the terrace and outdoor furniture (chairs, parasols, cushions, tables).
Ensure proper functioning of key systems (pool, boiler, etc.).
Report any equipment or system issues to the property owner.

Lifestyle Support

Carry out grocery shopping and occasional cooking when the owner is in residence.
Set and clear the dining table.
Drive the employer when required.
Maintain the vehicle logbook and monitor servicing.

Coordination & Oversight

Welcome and supervise external contractors and service providers.
Provide regular reporting and updates to the property owner.

Job Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role (private households or similar professional settings).
Autonomous, organized, and proactive, with strong attention to detail.
Enjoys careful, well-executed work; cooking skills are appreciated.
Flexible during the employer’s stays (approx. 6 weeks/year).
Discreet, trustworthy, and respectful of confidentiality.
French-speaking.
Driver’s license required, with personal vehicle.
