Job Description

A refined household located near Pont-l’Évêque in Normandy is seeking an experienced Housekeeper (M/F) to support the daily upkeep and smooth functioning of a 200 m² residence within a prestigious equestrian estate.

This position forms part of a staffing pair and replaces a long-standing employee retiring from the role.

The family, composed of four children (5-year-old twins, and two older children aged 9 and 12), primarily resides in the home during weekends and school holidays. The post offers long-term stability and may include on-site accommodation.

Responsibilities

Maintain the home’s cleanliness to an immaculate standard, including dedicated areas such as the games room, spa facilities, sauna, and hammam.
Care for delicate and luxury materials (marble, wood, etc.) with appropriate cleaning methods.
Oversee all laundry duties: washing, ironing, folding, storage, and wardrobe organisation.
Ensure attentive presence and security when the family is travelling or temporarily absent.
Conduct grocery shopping, manage pantry stock, and handle household inventories.
Prepare family meals when requested, prioritising balanced, fresh, and varied cuisine.
Support table service during casual family gatherings when required.
Respond discreetly and efficiently to daily needs and occasional requests.

Job Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar private household or estate role.
Approachable, positive, and respectful personality with strong communication skills.
Highly trustworthy, discreet, and dependable, with excellent sense of responsibility.
Multi-skilled, organised, detail-focused, and comfortable managing varied duties.
Ability to follow household standards and maintain strict confidentiality.
Confident in simple, family-style healthy cooking.
Comfortable around animals: the home includes a stud farm and a family dog.
Capable of team cooperation and maintaining a harmonious household atmosphere.
Fluent in French or English.
Knowledge of the Normandy area appreciated.
Valid driving licence required.

Working Conditions

Start date: Immediate
Location: Pont-l’Évêque, Normandy
Contract: Full-time permanent position (100%)
Hours: 40 hours/week with flexibility
Schedule: Wednesday to Sunday
Days off: 2 consecutive days during the week
Accommodation: Possible (on-site housing option)
