Job Description

A welcoming private family in Dubai, UAE, is seeking an experienced and professionally qualified Maternity Nurse to provide expert care for their newborn baby boy.

The family is looking for a confident newborn-care specialist who can take responsibility for the baby’s day-to-day routine from birth and provide knowledgeable support during the early postnatal period. The role will also involve supporting the mother as she recovers following a C-section.

The position will initially be highly intensive during the first six weeks after the baby’s arrival. As the mother’s recovery progresses, the family expects the schedule and number of working hours to reduce. They are flexible and open to discussing the exact arrangement according to the successful candidate’s experience, availability, and preferred working pattern.

This is ideally a longer-term assignment of at least six months, with the possibility of international or domestic travel once the baby is approximately three months old.

Responsibilities

Newborn Care

  • Take primary responsibility for the baby’s daily care and wellbeing.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate feeding, sleeping, changing, and bathing routines.
  • Prepare bottles and safely sterilise feeding equipment.
  • Monitor the baby’s general health, comfort, behaviour, and developmental progress.
  • Encourage healthy sleep and feeding habits.
  • Maintain accurate awareness of the baby’s routine and communicate relevant observations to the parents.
  • Provide knowledgeable guidance and reassurance to the parents on newborn-care matters.
  • Follow the parents’ preferred approach to feeding, sleep, and daily care.

Nursery & Baby Care

  • Maintain the baby’s hygiene and ensure clothing and personal items are clean and organised.
  • Manage the baby’s laundry and linen.
  • Keep the nursery clean, tidy, safe, and well organised.
  • Prepare and maintain essential baby equipment and supplies.
  • Introduce appropriate sensory and developmental activities as the baby grows.
  • Ensure all newborn-care equipment is handled safely and hygienically.

Postnatal & Family Support

  • Provide practical support to the mother during her recovery from a C-section.
  • Help create a calm and comfortable environment during the early postnatal period.
  • Work closely with both parents and respect their parenting preferences.
  • Keep the family informed about the baby’s routine, feeding, sleep, and general wellbeing.
  • Offer professional newborn-care advice and reassurance when appropriate.
  • Coordinate effectively with other household staff where required.

Travel

  • Potentially accompany the family on domestic and international trips from approximately three months after the baby’s birth.
  • Maintain the baby’s established routine while travelling.
  • Prepare and organise the baby’s belongings and equipment for travel.
  • Adapt confidently to different environments while maintaining high standards of care.

Professional Standards

  • Maintain complete confidentiality regarding the family and their private affairs.
  • Demonstrate discretion, professionalism, and respect at all times.
  • Work confidently and independently while maintaining clear communication with the parents.

Job Requirements

The family is seeking a highly experienced Maternity Nurse / Newborn Care Specialist with formal training and substantial professional experience.

Essential & Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal qualification in Newborn Care, Maternity Nursing, Infant Care, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Proven professional experience caring for newborns from birth.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in private households, maternity nursing, or professional newborn-care environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of newborn feeding, sleep routines, hygiene, infant development, and safety.
  • Current Infant CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Excellent spoken English.
  • Previous experience supporting mothers following a C-section is advantageous.
  • Experience working for HNW/UHNW families is advantageous.
  • Calm, nurturing, patient, and reassuring personality.
  • Professional, discreet, trustworthy, and adaptable.
  • Confident working independently with a newborn.
  • Flexible regarding working hours and live-in/live-out arrangements.
  • Willing and able to travel internationally when required.
  • European passport preferred/required to facilitate international travel arrangements.

Working Conditions

Initial Six-Week Period

During the first six weeks, the role will be particularly intensive:

  • Approximately 20 hours per day, with around 4 hours off.
  • 6 days per week, with the possibility of 7 days during the first week depending on the family’s needs.
  • The intensive schedule may be reduced earlier if the mother’s recovery progresses well.

Following the Initial Six Weeks

The working pattern is expected to become less intensive:

  • Approximately 10–12 hours per day.
  • Day or night schedule to be agreed with the successful candidate.
  • Live-in or live-out arrangement available.
  • The family is willing to adjust the schedule according to the candidate’s experience, availability, and preferred arrangement.

Salary

Flexible and negotiable, based on qualifications, newborn-care experience, availability, working hours, and agreed live-in or live-out arrangement.
