Job Description

A European family recently settled in Dubai is seeking a skilled and committed Live-In Private Chef to manage all culinary needs within their private household. The family consists of two adults and two children and follows a strict kosher lifestyle, making in-depth knowledge of kosher cooking and kitchen protocols essential.

This role involves the daily preparation of nutritious, fresh, and high-quality meals, as well as the organisation and execution of Shabbat dinners every Friday, during which guests are frequently entertained.

The position is long-term and best suited to a professional chef who is confident working in a private residence, understands cultural and religious sensitivities, and consistently delivers food to a high standard.

Responsibilities

Daily Meal Preparation

  • Prepare daily meals, including breakfast, light lunch, and dinner, for the family.
  • Cook balanced, healthy dishes using fresh, seasonal, premium ingredients.
  • Prepare kosher meat dishes across a variety of cuisines, following correct handling and cooking procedures.
  • Use suitable dairy alternatives to maintain kosher compliance without compromising taste or presentation.
  • Adapt menus to suit:
    • Adults and children

    • Dietary preferences, allergies, and nutritional needs

  • Prepare meals for household staff within agreed working hours.

Kosher Kitchen Management

  • Operate strictly in line with kosher regulations, including:

    • Separation of meat and dairy

    • Use of kosher-approved ingredients

    • Correct handling of designated utensils, cookware, and appliances

  • Maintain a fully kosher kitchen at all times.
  • Communicate respectfully with the family regarding kosher standards, ingredient sourcing, and religious observances.
  • Prepare and organise meals in accordance with Shabbat requirements, including:
    • Advance preparation for Friday evening meals

    • Cooking for hosted guests

    • Respecting restrictions related to cooking and food handling during Shabbat

Menu Planning & Organisation

  • Create weekly menus aligned with the family’s preferences and schedule.
  • Ensure menu variety while maintaining nutritional balance.
  • Design special menus for:
    • Shabbat dinners

    • Family gatherings and hosted guests

  • Ensure meals are served punctually and presented to a high standard.

Shopping & Kitchen Operations

  • Source and purchase kosher-certified, high-quality ingredients from approved suppliers.
  • Manage kitchen inventory, stock rotation, and forward planning.
  • Reduce food waste by:
    • Planning menus around available ingredients

    • Repurposing ingredients creatively across meals

    • Avoiding unnecessary or duplicate purchases

  • Limit last-minute shopping to genuine needs or specific family requests.
  • Ensure correct storage, labelling, and rotation of all food items.
  • Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, organisation, and efficiency in the kitchen.
  • Comply fully with food safety and hygiene regulations.

Household & Professional Conduct

  • Work respectfully and collaboratively within a private household setting.
  • Remain flexible and adaptable to changing schedules.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professional discretion at all times.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with the family and household staff.

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Private Chef or Senior Chef in private households or high-end hospitality.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with kosher cuisine and kosher kitchens.
  • Experience cooking for families and children.
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written.
  • Ability to commit to a live-in position with a 6-day working week.
  • Comfortable with shared accommodation.
  • Excellent organisational skills and time management.

Culinary Profile

  • Strong focus on healthy, fresh cooking.
  • Proven experience with:
    • Asian cuisine

    • Indian cuisine

    • Mediterranean cuisine

  • Skilled in fish- and vegetable-based dishes.
  • Able to adapt recipes to meet dietary, cultural, and religious requirements.
  • Creative while remaining respectful of traditional and religious meals.

Personal Qualities

  • Professional, discreet, and trustworthy.
  • Calm and organised under pressure, particularly during Shabbat preparation.
  • Positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
  • Culturally sensitive and respectful of Jewish traditions.
  • Child-friendly, approachable, and comfortable in a family-oriented environment.

Working Conditions

  • Accommodation: Shared accommodation provided
  • Schedule: 6 days per week, 1 day off
  • Location: Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE
  • Start Date: As soon as possible
