Assistant Estate Manager Couple

Assistant Estate Manager Couple job (M/F) in Saint-Tropez, France

Saint Tropez

Job Description

A prestigious private estate in Saint-Tropez, in the Var region of southern France, is seeking an experienced and versatile Assistant Estate Manager Couple to oversee the day-to-day running, maintenance, and security of the property.

The residence serves as a second home for its owners and requires a dedicated couple capable of maintaining the estate to exceptional standards throughout the year, while providing attentive, discreet service whenever the owners and their guests are in residence.

The successful candidates will initially work alongside the current estate management couple for several months, allowing for a structured handover before assuming responsibility for the property. The role combines property supervision, household service, technical upkeep, contractor coordination, and seasonal staff management.

Experience in luxury villa management, private estates, or high-end hospitality is essential. The ideal couple will be practical, self-sufficient, and comfortable sharing responsibilities while adapting to the changing requirements of a seasonal private residence.

This is a full-time, permanent position offering on-site accommodation and an opportunity to manage an exceptional property in one of the French Riviera’s most sought-after locations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the daily operation and general upkeep of the residence, including its interior spaces, gardens, terraces, and outdoor facilities.
  • Conduct regular property checks to ensure the estate remains secure, presentable, and fully operational.
  • Monitor the condition and functionality of technical installations and amenities, including swimming pools, the tennis court, gym equipment, and outdoor furnishings.
  • Undertake routine DIY tasks and minor repairs, arranging specialist assistance whenever necessary.
  • Maintain clean, orderly terraces, driveways, pathways, and other exterior areas.
  • Supervise the gardeners and coordinate their work to ensure the grounds are maintained to the required standard.
  • Welcome external contractors, oversee scheduled interventions, and check that work is completed satisfactorily.
  • Monitor the condition, servicing, and general maintenance of the estate’s vehicles.

Household Service and Guest Relations

  • Prepare the property ahead of the owners’ arrival and ensure the residence is ready to receive family members and guests.
  • Welcome the owners and visitors with professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Manage laundry duties, including washing, ironing, folding, and organizing household linens and clothing.
  • Prepare meals during the owners’ visits outside the main summer season, as required.
  • Set dining tables and provide attentive table service in keeping with the standards of the residence.
  • Assist with the preparation and smooth running of lunches, dinners, and private gatherings during the summer, working closely with the chef.
  • Drive the owners when requested and provide assistance with transport arrangements where necessary.
  • Receive and organize incoming correspondence, parcels, deliveries, and household supplies.

Staff and Administrative Management

  • Assist with the recruitment, scheduling, and supervision of seasonal employees and additional staff during busy periods.
  • Coordinate daily priorities and divide responsibilities efficiently between the two members of the couple.
  • Track estate-related expenditure and maintain an accurate record of expenses and accounts.
  • Monitor outstanding maintenance requirements, contractor appointments, and operational tasks.
  • Provide regular updates to the management office regarding the property’s condition, expenditure, staffing, and any issues requiring attention.
  • Ensure that all information relating to the owners, their guests, and the property remains strictly confidential.

Job Requirements

The ideal applicants will be an established couple with complementary practical and organizational skills, capable of managing a high-end private property with minimal supervision.

Candidates should offer:

  • Five to ten years of relevant experience managing luxury villas, private estates, prestigious residences, or comparable hospitality properties.
  • A proven ability to handle a broad range of property management and household responsibilities.
  • Strong practical skills, including routine maintenance, basic repairs, and coordination of technical service providers.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and a proactive approach to property upkeep.
  • The maturity and judgment required to manage contractors, gardeners, and seasonal staff.
  • A strong service ethic and the ability to welcome owners and guests to a high standard.
  • Flexibility to accommodate the owners’ presence, changing schedules, and periods of increased activity.
  • Reliability, initiative, and a shared sense of responsibility for the estate.
  • Absolute discretion and respect for the privacy of the household.
  • Cooking skills, which would be an advantage.
  • A valid Category B driving licence held by at least one member of the couple.
  • French and English language skills, which would be an asset.

Both candidates must be willing to work collaboratively, take ownership of their respective duties, and contribute to the overall smooth running of the residence.
