Job Description

A private European family is seeking an experienced Live-In Domestic Couple to take full responsibility for the management and upkeep of a large luxury chalet located in Celerina, near St. Moritz.

This is a permanent, long-term position, ideal for a professional couple who value autonomy, enjoy mountain living, and take pride in maintaining a high-end property to exceptional standards throughout the year.

The household operates with a “relaxed luxury” philosophy: the environment is informal, respectful, and calm, while expectations regarding organisation, cleanliness, reliability, and discretion remain extremely high.

For most of the year, the couple will manage the property independently. The principals are mainly in residence from December to March, with occasional shorter stays outside peak season. During busy periods, additional staff (housekeepers and a private chef) are brought in and coordinated by the couple.

Responsibilities

Property & Estate Management

  • Take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of a large luxury chalet.
  • Ensure the property is consistently maintained in a guest-ready condition.
  • Liaise with local contractors, suppliers, and service providers (German required).
  • Oversee general maintenance and promptly report or address technical issues.
  • Coordinate essential services such as heating systems, snow clearance, utilities, and inspections.

Housekeeping & Organisation

  • Deliver high-standard daily and deep cleaning throughout the property.
  • Manage all laundry, ironing, and wardrobe care.
  • Maintain excellent organisation across all living and storage areas.
  • Handle stock control and household supply management.

Hosting & Service Support (during family stays)

  • Provide informal hosting and service support as needed.
  • Coordinate smoothly with the chef and additional household staff.
  • Prepare the chalet ahead of family and guest arrivals.

Additional Duties

  • Simple, family-style cooking is a strong advantage.
  • Manage household shopping and local errands.
  • Drive locally for property-related needs (vehicle provided / mileage covered).
  • Assist with pet care when the family’s dog is in residence.

Job Requirements

  • Languages:

    • German: required (minimum conversational/intermediate level to communicate confidently with contractors and suppliers).
    • English: required for communication with the family and staff.
    • Italian: an advantage, but not essential.
  • Proven experience as a domestic couple within private households or estates.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Highly reliable, discreet, organised, and detail-oriented.
  • Practical, hands-on, and adaptable in approach.
  • Confident managing external contractors and service providers.
  • Interested in a long-term role and mountain lifestyle.
  • Comfortable with pets.
  • Valid driving licence required (both partners driving is a strong advantage).

Working Conditions

  • Accommodation provided

    • Approximately 9–10 months per year: private staff apartment
    • Peak season: shared staff apartment (private bedroom and bathroom maintained)
  • Utilities included
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Contract: Swiss employment contract
  • Stable, respectful, and long-term working environment

Salary

CHF 12,000 to CHF 14,000 gross per month per couple, depending on experience and profile
