Nanny/Housekeeper

Housekeeper/Nanny job (M/F) in Villefranche-sur-Mer, France

Villefranche-sur-Mer

Job Description

A private family is looking for a Housekeeper & Nanny (M/F) to take responsibility for the care of their approximately 300 sqm villa and guest house in Villefranche-sur-Mer, while also providing warm, attentive care for their six-month-old baby.

This is a varied long-term position combining high-standard housekeeping, light property oversight, and infant care. The family uses the property for approximately 100 days each year, mainly between April and October, so the schedule and nature of the work change depending on whether the family is in residence.

When the family is away, the focus is on maintaining the property to an exceptional standard and ensuring everything is ready for their return. During periods of residence, the role becomes a balanced combination of housekeeping and childcare.

Cooking is not part of the position. No formal childcare qualification is required; the family places greater importance on genuine hands-on experience with babies, sound judgment, reliability, and a natural ability to care for a young child.

The successful candidate will be discreet, dependable and self-sufficient, with the warmth and confidence required to care for an infant and the practical skills needed to maintain a beautiful private residence.

The family is looking for someone interested in establishing a long-term relationship with the household and becoming a trusted member of their team.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping

  • Maintain the main villa of approximately 300 sqm and the separate guest house to a consistently high standard.
  • Carry out thorough cleaning and daily household upkeep.
  • Tidy rooms, make beds and prepare the property before the family’s arrival and when guests are expected.
  • Take full responsibility for household laundry, including washing, drying, folding and appropriate storage.
  • Carry out professional-quality ironing while taking appropriate care of different fabrics and garments.
  • Monitor household and cleaning supplies and maintain basic stock levels.
  • Keep planter boxes and terraces in good condition, including watering plants on the ground and upper-floor terraces and around the guest house.

Property Care & Coordination

During the family’s periods away from the property, the Housekeeper will also provide basic oversight of the estate.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting regular checks of the villa and surrounding property.
  • Identifying any maintenance or household issues and reporting them promptly.
  • Meeting tradespeople, technicians and contractors at the property when required.
  • Providing access and coordinating scheduled maintenance visits.
  • Ensuring the residence remains secure, clean and fully prepared for the family’s return.

Infant Care

When the family is in residence, approximately half of the working time will be dedicated to childcare.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing attentive, affectionate and age-appropriate care for the family’s six-month-old baby.
  • Taking the baby for stroller walks and providing age-appropriate play and stimulation.
  • Following the parents’ established feeding and sleeping routines.
  • Maintaining a clean, calm and safe environment for the baby.
  • Supporting the parents with the baby’s daily routine while respecting their preferences and instructions.
  • Being attentive to the baby’s comfort, wellbeing and changing needs.

Working Pattern

The annual schedule is designed around the family’s time at the property.

When the Family Is Away – Approximately 265 Days Per Year

The role is approximately 3 days per week / 20 hours per week.

During these periods, duties focus on:

  • Housekeeping and general property maintenance
  • Regular inspection visits
  • Laundry and ironing
  • Terrace and planter care
  • Monitoring household supplies
  • Coordinating tradespeople and maintenance contractors

When the Family Is in Residence – Approximately 100 Days Per Year

The schedule increases to 5 days per week, 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week.

Working time is expected to be divided approximately 50% housekeeping and 50% infant care, depending on the family’s daily requirements.

Job Requirements

The family is looking for someone who combines strong practical housekeeping skills with genuine confidence around babies.

Essential qualities include:

  • Fluent French and English, both required.
  • Proven experience working in a private household, luxury residence, or high-end hospitality environment.
  • Practical, hands-on experience caring for infants or young babies.
  • A natural warmth and genuine enjoyment of childcare.
  • Excellent housekeeping standards and attention to detail.
  • Confidence managing laundry and ironing independently.
  • Discretion and respect for the privacy of a private family.
  • A reliable, calm and reassuring personality.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt to changing household requirements.
  • Residence in, or reliable commuting distance from, Villefranche-sur-Mer.

Experience with basic sewing, alterations or garment repairs would be an additional advantage.

Important Information

  • Cooking: Not required; cooking is entirely excluded from the position.
  • Nanny qualification: No formal nanny diploma is required.
  • Childcare experience: Practical experience with infants is essential.
  • Long-term commitment: The family is seeking someone interested in a stable, ongoing position rather than a short-term placement.

Working Conditions

  • Position: Housekeeper & Nanny
  • Location: Villefranche-sur-Mer, French Riviera
  • Employment: Permanent / CDI
  • Payroll: CESU
  • Schedule: Approximately 20 hours/week when the family is away and 40 hours/week when in residence
  • Family’s presence: Approximately 100 days per year, primarily April to October
  • Start date: Q4 2026 or early 2027
  • Priority: Finding the right personality and long-term fit is more important than an immediate start

Salary

From €32 gross per hour, equivalent to approximately €25 net per hour, paid as a regular fixed monthly salary.
