Job Description

A family is seeking an experienced and highly organised Governess / House Manager to oversee the maintenance and daily management of two residences in Gstaad — an apartment and a chalet with garden.

This is a long-term, live-out position requiring a high level of autonomy, discretion, and attention to detail. You will work in close coordination with the family office, ensuring both properties are consistently maintained to an excellent standard, whether the family is in residence or not.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full housekeeping of both properties to a high standard
  • Manage laundry with a strong focus on care, organisation, and presentation
  • Oversee household supplies, equipment, and stock management
  • Coordinate external contractors and service providers
  • Supervise the properties in the family’s absence
  • Prepare residences ahead of family arrivals
  • Maintain a discreet and efficient presence during stays
  • Handle occasional errands and household-related purchases
  • Oversee seasonal preparation and upkeep of the chalet

No cooking is required, however strong attention to detail and service quality is essential.

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience in high-end private households
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently
  • Reliable, discreet, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable liaising with a family office
  • Driving licence and personal vehicle required
  • EU passport or valid Swiss work permit required
  • Languages: English and/or Italian required; French and/or German is a plus
  • Knowledge of the Gstaad area is an advantage

Salary

CHF 55,000 – 65,000 gross per year, depending on experience
