Job Description

A private UHNW family is seeking a highly experienced Butler / House Manager to take over from a long-standing team member who held the role for over 15 years.

This is a key position within a well-established household, requiring a professional with strong expertise in formal service, household operations, and team coordination, combined with a sharp eye for detail.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high service standards, managing staff and daily operations, and ensuring a smooth, well-organised environment across multiple residences.

Responsibilities

Formal Service & Guest Experience

  • Deliver refined, high-level service for formal dining and private occasions.
  • Set tables, manage service flow, and serve food and beverages with precision.
  • Ensure a consistent level of presentation and attention to detail at all times.

Events & Entertaining

  • Organise and manage private dinners and gatherings (4–10 guests and larger events).
  • Coordinate all aspects of service to ensure a smooth and well-executed experience.

Household Operations

  • Oversee the care of interiors, including artwork, furnishings, fine China, and linens.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the residence.
  • Ensure all service routines (turn-down, preparation, etc.) are delivered consistently.

Staff Management

  • Recruit, train, and supervise household staff.
  • Create schedules and manage day-to-day operations.
  • Lead by example and maintain a positive, structured working environment.

Procurement & Vendor Coordination

  • Source and manage suppliers, ensuring quality and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee household inventory and purchasing.

Guest & Lifestyle Support

  • Welcome guests and ensure a smooth and personalised experience.
  • Support the overall organisation of the household and daily routines.

Additional Duties

  • Manage wardrobe care, including garment preparation, packing, and organisation.
  • Create and maintain floral arrangements within the residence.
  • Assist with pet care (small dog) during the family’s absence.
  • Coordinate transport and schedules with the wider team (Estate Manager, assistants, crew).
  • Provide driving support when required.

Financial Oversight

  • Track household expenses and staff-related costs.
  • Review invoices and liaise with the Family Office when necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience within a luxury private household or estate.
  • Strong background in formal service, household management, and events.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to handle confidential matters.
  • Confident decision-maker aligned with the principals’ expectations.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of wardrobe care and floral presentation.
  • Comfortable using technology and household management tools.
  • Physically capable of hands-on tasks when required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Working Conditions

  • Primary Location: Jupiter Island, Florida (live-out)
  • Secondary Location: Brielle, New Jersey (live-in with private cottage)
  • Additional Property: Okeechobee, Florida (occasional presence required)
  • Schedule: Wednesday to Sunday, with flexibility for events and holidays
  • Hours: Approx. 50 hours per week

Salary

$90,000 to $110,000 per year, depending on experience
